The Great Divide

Hello everyone,

Today I am very happy to share a new piece of art with you ‘ The great divide’ This is one my most ambitious works to date. It’s the first time I have created a piece a full 3D animation, usually I would create a 2D artwork and then animate elements within it to give it some life but this was a totally new experience.

The vision for this artwork is now over a decade old and it started as a simple digital painting. I have recreated this vision many times but this is the first time I have felt happy with the final result. In the original digital painting I depicted myself pushing apart the Earth, almost like hatching from a shell, at the time the piece was about rebirth and starting a new life.

As I was recreating this vision I felt that this artwork is actually much more relevant now more than it was 10 years ago.

The World feels so divided in so many ways…

It’s been a hard time for everyone, I find myself on the other side of the world right now and have not seen my family or friends for almost a year and a half. This animation helped me to release some of my frustration and despair.

Overall I did feel very nostalgic and grateful while working on this new piece.

Ten years ago I would lay awake at night imagining a 3D version like this, I remember wishing that I had the knowledge, skills and hardware to create such an artwork.

I had always imagined a future where I could create this piece I just cant believe that the time is now and in the present. It really does trip me out when I think of how fast a decade has passed by.

So much has happened, so much has changed, everything is getting more and more complex and fast paced. It really is hard to imagine what this life will look like in another 10 years, it’s tough to picture a positive reality but I don’t think we have a choice anymore!
